The short version
This website sets no cookies unless you click "Accept" on our banner. If you accept, two visitor-statistics services (Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity) set the cookies listed below. If you decline, or do nothing, no cookies are set. We never use advertising cookies. Fonts are hosted on our own server, so reading a page sends no data to Google or any other font provider.
What your browser keeps for this site
Besides those optional cookies, a few small items are kept in your browser's own storage. None of them is shared with anyone unless you send us a form.
- Where you came from (session storage, deleted when you close the tab): the page you arrived on and, if you clicked a tagged link, which of our posts brought you here. It is sent to us only if you submit a form, so we know which channels help students.
- Your questionnaire answers (session storage, deleted when you close the tab): so you do not lose them if you move between pages before starting a WhatsApp chat.
- Your cookie choice (local storage): only if analytics is switched on, to remember whether you clicked Accept or Decline, so we do not ask again. Closing the banner counts as Decline. You can change your mind with "Cookie settings" at the foot of any page.
- Your portal sign-in (local storage): keeps you signed in to the student portal. It is needed for the portal to work and is removed when you sign out.
- Portal settings and study copies (local and session storage, on your own device, portal only): your light or dark theme, which tips you have seen, your saved programme shortlist and, in IMAT Practice, a copy of your study progress, answers not yet uploaded and a running exam, so a lost connection loses nothing. If you use a shared computer, clear this site's data when you finish.
- The installable portal app (browser cache, portal only): copies of the portal's own pages, styles and scripts so it opens quickly. It holds no student data.
The spam check on our forms
When you start filling in one of our forms (contact, newsletter, the questions before a WhatsApp chat, or the portal sign-in), Cloudflare Turnstile checks that you are a person and not a bot. It loads only at that moment, never when you simply read a page, and usually shows nothing at all. We treat it as strictly necessary to keep our forms free of spam, so it does not ask for permission. It does not read what you type into the form, and it sets no cookie on this website (we leave Cloudflare's optional clearance cookie switched off). Cloudflare explains what the check processes in its Turnstile privacy addendum.
Optional analytics
We use two visitor-statistics services to see which pages help students and where pages are hard to use. A banner asks for your permission first. Nothing loads unless you click "Accept", and you can change your choice at any time with the button below. Analytics never runs on student portal pages.
- Google Analytics (Google): counts visits and which pages are read. Cookies:
_gaand_ga_ZQRBC7X3ML, which let Google recognise a returning browser, kept for up to 2 years. We do not share this data with Google for advertising. - Microsoft Clarity (Microsoft): shows how pages are used, for example where people click and scroll, including short replays of visits. Anything you type into a form is hidden from it. Cookies:
_clck(up to 1 year) and_clsk(1 day). Microsoft's list also has its own cookies on its own domains:CLID,ANONCHK,MR,MUIDandSM. We tell Clarity that advertising storage is refused.
Both services may process data in the United States; see our Privacy Policy for how this is protected. If you decline later, we switch both off at once and delete their cookies from this site. Microsoft's own cookies sit on its domains, so only your browser settings can clear those.
Booking a call
"Book a free call" opens our booking page at Cal.com, a separate website with its own cookie policy. Your questionnaire answers are passed to it only when you choose to book.
